    How to use the ssh agent and telnet agent

    Hi,

    I had upgrade the zabbix 1.8 with ubuntu 9.0. when I use ssh agent to execute some command , the zabbix server show following errors:

    " Item [Zabbix Server:ssh.run[gethost,localhost]] error: Support of SSH parameters was not compiled in."

    How to resolve it , Thanks.

            How did you solve it? I installed libssh2 on Centos 5.4 but still the problem exist. Do I have to recompile zabbix?

            Thx

              Correct. You have to rebuild zabbix.

                Email Address for User Groups

                We had to create dummy Users in each UserGroup (enabled but with readonly capabilities) in order to make use of the User email address, as UserGroups don't have such a property. This allows us to take advantage of the Media Script capability to use a Perl script to send mail to an internal news group of technicians responsible for responding to hardware/software problems.

                It sure would be nice to have an email address property for the UserGroup entity and not to have all of these dummy accounts floating around.

                  I have some suggestions to make some things better :

                  *allow external scripts with input support
                  *allow custom values /translated values (i.e. Procurve Switch gives a value like 5 back and i want set it to 5 = good, then will the status shown as good in latest data and not as 5)

                  The actual feature "value mapping" isnt good enough. nagios support this, so why not zabbix?

                      Hi,

                      sorry for my english.

                      1. Actually it´s not possible to run own scripts which uses user-data (zabbix´s popup shows nothing)

                      i.e.

                      #!/bin/sh
                      read -p "Enter Port(1-XX):" number
                      read -p "Port $portnummer activate(1), deactivate(2)?" choose
                      snmpset -v 2c -c public 10.12.224.45 IF-MIB::ifAdminStatus.$number i $choose

                      Or its my fault. I don´t know

                      2.It would be cooler. Actually i must always have a look at value mapping to know what the different values (like 4) stands for. (Self) "Translated" ( like 4 shown as Status Good) Values would be great.

                        ah, you mean interactive frontend scripts - that might be pretty hard to support, if not impossible...

                        erm, why ? did you assign that value mapping to the item ? (see item properties)

                          Hi,

                          Currently, only simple text output from action script is allowed in popup window.
                          It would be nice to allow HTML support. It would then be possible to have more advanced actions as running AjaxTerm console or opening SSH or VNC sessions.

                          This has been discussed in this post: http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthre...ght=ssh+applet.
                          PHP has to be hacked to support it. A cleaner solution would be nice.

                          I am aware that allowing arbitrary HTML injection could be a security risk. It is limited since adding an action script needs proper access rights to Zabbix scripts directory and administrator rights within Zabbix.

                          Regards,

                            It would be nice to have the possibility to send a message when you disable a host to inform other users. The idea is when a user changes host status to "Not Monitored", the rest of the users could know what had happened by a message.

                              My 2 cents: Yes bashman, you'll have to recompile zabbix binary in order to use the ssh checks. Remember that you have to specify the directive --with-ssh2 (besides others you need) to enable support of ssh checks in zabbix server.
