great community ?? -- no help??

    Hello,

this forum/community has 43,325Members, but how many are active (i think more than 3-5posts per month = active)?

And i think we´ve mostly que question-users and rare answer-users..

When i look in other monitoring-forums (for example nagios) the community-support is much better..

    Shad0w,
it seems the forum has indeed suffered from less attention lately,
probably the devs are head over water working on Zabbix 1.9.x

When you have some more urgent questions you can go to the official IRC #zabbix channel

Shad0w, while your gripe may have some merit on the surface the answer is a lot more complex. I check this forum every day and I see on average about 10-15 new posts a day, these are not always new threads, but these are new posts since the last time I visited which is often 12-24 hours previous. Also queue questions are often not quite so straight forward to answer as there are a few moving parts under the hood. I would ask/challenge you with what are you doing to make this community better? Perhaps this is a chance for you to dive into the queue code and really have a better appreciation for what is going on, and be the forum expert of how it works.

I know I have griped, bitched and moaned about the state of Zabbix over the years. Sometimes I've been a little more direct than others, but I've come to learn one thing. I get as much out of this community as I'm willing to put into it. And now when I don't like something I try to figure out a way to make it better and propose that or other solutions.

Oh, and just because a community is more active, does not mean it's a better product. ;-) But then openly biased about Zabbix. :-D

Sorry, I've been busy in recent months. I'll try to be more active.

You may find that sometimes if a question is not answered it is often because that question has been raised numerous times already. I recall one time where I answered the same question from 3 different posters in the space of two weeks [My apologies to the person who asked the same question again the following week].

Your recent posts about 'Performance Issues', 'Housekeeping', 'Break in Graph' have all been raised many times, there is no one-size-fits-all for tuning Zabbix because we all have different hardware and monitoring environments. A lot of trial and error is involved to get things just right. On the other hand, if you don't feel confident to deal with these issues yourself you can always purchase Zabbix support, and worry about nothing.

I have always advocated that 'a good IT guy is resourceful', meaning that he knows how to google! For example, I wouldn't google "performance tuning zabbix", I would google "performance tuning site:zabbix.com". I have managed to solve all of my zabbix issues this way.

Also, please keep in mind that people like nelsonab, zalex-ua, zabbix_zen, and many, many more contributors to this forum have day jobs. We don't work for Zabbix.
