Suggestion: SNMP-Community as a part of the hostconfiguration instead of the item

    Hi,

at the moment I'm setting up Zabbix to monitor different networks. For security reasons the networks have different SNMP-communities (not my fault ) and so I ran in some trouble using the Host.SNMP-Template.
Because you set up the SNMP-community for the each item and not for an host, you've to copy the whole Host.SNMP-Template to an other Host.SNMP1-Template to use different SNMP-Communities.
My suggestion ist to change the configuration from the item (where you've to re-enter it a few times for each new item you create) to the host. At the moment I do not see the need to set up different SNMP-communities on one host, but what do other Zabbix-users think about that?

This has been suggested before and I believe it is a good idea.

If I recall correctly, alexei agreed but it's proably been eclipsed by bugs and other high priority items.

ZABBIX won't be changed to have community on host level. Instead the community will be remembered for each host, so when adding new item you'll get right community automatically.

I'm think not need add community name at host level. May add group/collecton level. For example snmp group/collecton for snmp enabled item, zabbix agent grop/collecton for zabbix agent item & etc. Then it's may add templated collection. Very intersting add recursive group/collection. It's simple way create and support template & snmp MIB's.
