I just upgraded to zabbix 4.4 from 4.2 and wanted to try updated templates for 4.4

I downloaded latest OS Windows templates for 4.4 from

namely:

template_module_zabbix_agent_EN.xml
template_os_windows_agent.xml

I noticed that there is no windows service discovery rules anymore. Why is that?

This is temporary removed due it caused too much noise with triggers from various not important services. I think it will be added again once we solve few things in Zabbix first. Item keys that does discovery are still there though.

I´ve just switched from Zabbix 4.0.12 to 4.4 by doing a fresh install just because of switching from appliance to a self installed system. The installation worked fine and all hosts are imported to zabbix but after finding the new templates and trying them one important thing is missing for me: The new template doesn´t monitor Windows Services which was always the most important benefit for me to use Zabbix.

In the moment i don´t see a chance to monitor Windows including service monitoring when applying the Template OS Windows by Zabbix agent - am i right or just blind?

Hello.

There is errors like "Cannot evaluate expression: Invalid macro '{$IF.ERRORS.WARN:"Intel(R) 82574L Gigabit Network Connection"}' value" in triggers from fresh Zabbix 4.4 installation in autodiscovered network interfaces from Windows template.
OS on monitored host is Windows Server 2019 EN

Edit:
Looks like there are missing macros {$IF.ERRORS.WARN}, {$IF.UTIL.MAX}, {$IFCONTROL} in Template Module Windows network by Zabbix agent and active agent template. Added them and everything seems ok.
Also there is typo in templates by Zabbix agent (also active agent) in trigger name "Systen name has changed (new name: {ITEM.VALUE})"

I can confirm this, I'm just testing zabbix and added a windows server.
Receive alarm for :
sppsvc
ShellHWDetection
tiledatamodelsvc
wbiosrvc
cdpsvc
onesyncsvc_xxxxx
mapsbroker

for example.

maybe you could add a macro in which we would enter the services on which not to activate a trigger

They would be discovered by zabbix but would not trigger alarms.

for example {NOTMONITORSERVICE} = sppcvc,OneSyncSvc*,mapsbroker etc

Please advise how to add back windows service discovery. Removing it completely is a slap in the face for people who rely on the functionality.

Using OS Windows by Zabbix Active Agent via proxy
Dashboard show Agent unknown Status, all data and availability up/up reporting

If leave Agent config same and change to other (passive) template get all data still and reports Available to Dash

I have the 4.4.4 version of zabbix downloaded from the zabbix.com in the installed package with the right template (Template OS Windows by Zabbix agent) assigned to a host with the zabbix agent and I am no able to get windows services discovered automatically or at all... there is no discovery rule in the template either... am I missing something? the zabbix feature page is mark as closed and the documentation said it has been added back but do not see how to make it work. https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBXNEXT-5572

Hi,

I am using the version 4.4.4 updated to 4.4.6 of Zabbix appliance.
Monitoring a Windows server 2019 with Zabbix agent
I use "Template OS Windows by zabbix agent"
The windows is a virtual machine running under esxi 6

I am encounterring some troubles:

1- Services false positives

each time i reboot it, i got thoose problems:


as you can see the service exists into Windows services and they are up, but the service name change at each reboot



Should i do something to prevent this trouble ?


2- Windows network

The template "Template OS Windows by zabbix agent" include "Template Module Windows network by Zabbix agent"
but i dont have any network informations.

Is there something i am missing to get it work ?
