    Zabbix 3 on Ubuntu 16.04

I know that Ubuntu 16.04 is still at least a month away, but I was wondering if there was any work currently under way to have an Ubuntu 16.04 PPA ?

Are there any plans to provide Zabbix 3.0 packages for Ubuntu 16.04?

Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 LTS is available now,
the version number 16.04 stands for : April 2016...

You can download it on http://www.ubuntu.com/download

I tried to install Zabbix on the brand new Ubuntu 16.04 but it won't work...

The latest Zabbix package available for Ubuntu is for the Ubuntu Trusty 14.04 LTS version, only.

Is their any plans to create a Zabbix package for Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 LTS, soon?

Still no repo updates for Xenial 1 month after release. Perplexing, to say the least. I was able to get the agent from the Ubuntu repos, but they don't have zabbix-sender.

I hate "bump"-ing this thread, but, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS has been out for a month now. It would be good if we could have some (any?) information about this from anyone official. Anyone? Please?

Agreed. We're planning on moving our installation from 12 > 16. I suppose I could fall back to 14, but....

If OS supports Docker, then you can install Dockerized Zabbix (server/proxy) also on Ubuntu 2000 :-D. And you don't need to care about unresolved dependency hell in your OS.

We are also looking at upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 this summer. It would be very helpful to have an estimated date on when Zabbix 3.0 packages would be ready.....thanks.

                    Bump

I've got a fresh 16.04LTS installation and I'd like to install zabbix 3.0, my current zabbix is 2.2 on 12.04 LTS. I'd much rather move way forward than an incremental step that I'll have to redo in a couple years.

                      Bump

I'd much prefer to upgrade straight to 3 from 2.2.

I've seen that now there are also packages for Ubuntu 16.04 aka Xenial available. But with this Ubuntu version only PHP7 is available which is not supported up to now.

Are there any plans to support PHP7 and how long will it take?

You can uninstall PHP7 and install PHP 5.6 instead without any issues, using PPA packages.

I was surprised that 16.04 only ships with 2.4, but if there was no support for PHP7 in Zabbix when 16.04 froze then that makes sense.

This suggests that 16.10 will ship with 3.0.3:

[Impact] * The zabbix web frontend has one incompatibility and some missing dependencies with PHP7.0. * End-users are unable to use the web-frontend due to these issues. [Test Case] * Install zabbix-frontend-php. Without the fix, the frontend will not load properly. With the fix, it will. [Regression Potential] * The code change is identical to the upstream change; given that the frontend won't load with the code as-is, I believe there is no regression potential there. * The depen...

Debian SID has 3.0.3 so that makes sense.

Looks like the zabbix repository now includes a zabbix 3.0.4 for xenial distribution. Also looks like it may depend on php5.

Do I understand correctly that August 2016 is the planned date from another round of releases from Zabbix? Would like to hear the official news on all this.
