    @BenP

    Removing swap partitions is not a good thing. You should use it always to have the best performance.

      Yes and No :
      Yes because you can have a really huge amount of free memory, and No because swap isn't fast at all.
      But I should agree that swap pages save my servers many times, but that was a long time ago.

      Today I prefer have a vm with 8Go RAM, instead of 4Go RAM and 4Go SWAP, but that's only my humble opinion.

      For example, the zenoss appliance I made run smoothly with 200+ devices monitored and that's with only 2Go RAM and no swap.

      If you're sure to need virtual memory you can resize the disk or partition to create a swap one, YaST has got an excellent tool for managing disks.

        I see that you think that SWAP is for extending the memory size. But that is just only one of the SWAP purposes.

        SWAP enhances the memory performance even when the RAM isn't full.

          I'll finish that off topic with that link :

          It's quite old but the same questions remains. Today we don't measure RAM in Mb but in Gb. We have so much RAM that we are able to run multiple complete server from all side on only ... one.

          So, as usual, keep in mind you're never blocked by a solution, from building your own server to modify the one that somebody else made.
