    Zabbix server segfaults

    Hello,

we're experiencing segfaults in Zabbix server.

    Zabbix version used: 1.4.5
Database: MySQL 5.0.45 (innodb, innodb_file_per_table switched on)
    OS: CentOS 5.2
    Hosts monitored: 417
    Items: 40051

    System log:
    Sep 30 16:48:46 kernel: zabbix_server[31255]: segfault at 0000000000000001 rip 0000003721a77c00 rsp 00007fffd65ca868 error 4
    Sep 22 01:14:16 kernel: zabbix_server[20432]: segfault at 000000000000000e rip 000000327184aab5 rsp 00007fffdc3218e0 error 4
    Sep 17 13:56:22 kernel: zabbix_server[5989]: segfault at 0000000000000001 rip 0000003721a77c00 rsp 00007fff8c66d908 error 4
    Sep 10 08:09:45 kernel: zabbix_server[27306]: segfault at 0000000000000001 rip 0000003721a77c00 rsp 00007fffdedd4d98 error 4
    Sep 4 14:10:31 kernel: zabbix_server[8454]: segfault at 0000000000000001 rip 0000003721a77c00 rsp 00007fff936587a8 error 4

    Zabbix log:
31193:20080930:164846 One child process died. Exiting ...
    31193:20080930:164848 ZABBIX Server stopped
(unfortunately loglevel is default 3, level 4 was killing our machine since we have 30 trappers)

That's all info I can provide at this point.

    Thanks in advance,
    emir

    Please look at http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10566

It is very likely you have exactly the same problem. It is not Oracle specific!

The problem there is with the Zabbix 1.6 and we're using 1.4.5. Do you think that this problem is "backward compatible"?

We do not maintain backward compatibility of the bugs normally. Did it happen during XML import? You may consider upgrading to 1.4.6 and then to 1.6.x.

Failure didn't happen during XML import. We check http logs, there weren't any activities which would do database update at that time. We will try upgrading server daemon to 1.4.6.

Regarding 1.6 we're still testing its features, especially template-based XML imports since we do a lot of automatic configuration generation.

any resolution on this? We are seeing the same segfault errors on zabbix 1.6.5.
