    Monitoring VPNs via zabbix-proxy

    Hi!

I have 1 Zabbix Server in headquarters and 10 Zabbix Proxies in branch offices across my country. I want to use these proxies for monitoring VPNs state between branch offices and individual labs connected to these offices. There will be in total over 200 various vpn connections.

I set up host named "City1-Lab11-VPN", monitored by City1-Proxy, then I added items: "simple check icmpping" and "simple check icmppingsec" but it doesn't work, I got item values=0. This method works only in two cities, in all others not. Strange. I have the same zabbix version installed everywhere (1,8).

I logged onto City1-Proxy, su - zabbix, ping and fping works and returns correct values.
As a result I have dozen of alerts about unavailable vpn connections but in fact they are ok.

So my question is: how to monitor vpn connection using zabbix-proxy instead icmpping? Or: Why this method is working with one proxy and not with others? Configurations are the same, installed using the same install script...

    Thanks,
    Skygge

... and FPING ? Have you in all proxies ? Is FPING usable by 'zabbix' user ? What say your log file ?

yes, fping works also, as I wrote above.

      192.168.60.2 - zabbix_proxy IP.

I think the problem is here:
      19544:20100108:143435.521 /usr/sbin/fping -q -C3 -S192.168.60.2 2>&1 </tmp/zabbix_server_19544.pinger
      19544:20100108:143435.525 Update IP [/usr/sbin/fping: invalid option -- S]

      Where to change it?

      Best regadrs,

        OK, I got it.
Solution: do not touch "SourceIP" parameter in the config file

        Thanks!!
