Email Alerts did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA

Hi all!

I've searched Google about all that I can, and am not finding much.

I have set up the "Media Type" of "Email" to have these values:

SMTP server: "perfserver1.xxx.com",
SMTP helo: "perfserver1.xxx.com",
SMTP email: "[email protected]"

Where, "xxx.com" is a real FQDN. The mail server and the Zabbix server are on the same server box. Both the SMTP helo host and the server host are resolvable using nslookup.

In my /var/log/maillog I am seeing:

Jan 18 13:10:02 perfserver sendmail[12262]: o0IJA246012262: localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1] did not issue MAIL/EXPN/VRFY/ETRN during connection to MTA

I have also tried setting the SMTP server to 127.0.0.1 (which is what I would prefer to use), but am not having any luck with those settings either (same error). Sendmail is listening on all interfaces (again, I'd prefer to use 127.0.0.1) and am able to connect:

Any ideas what I need to do to get email alerts to go out?
