Zabbix Proxy send no data to server

    hi

i´m using Zabbix version 1.8.2 (server, proxy and agent).

i want to monitor some host via a proxy -> server

i´ve done all the configurations and it works, but the only thing doesn´t work is, that the proxy sending no data to the server.

    does anyone knows something?

I believe I am experiencing the same issue but for me it worked at one stage and now its stopped. For example (1.8.2 on freebsd).

The server under "DM" --> "Proxies" last the last seen age of 16seconds (and changes regularly.

When I view the hosts which are monitoring by said proxy their "availability" is blank. All of these devices are monitored by SNMP. The only "green" "Z" is for the agent on the proxy its self. I have one device which is also working but that is on the local network.

All other SNMP monitored hosts are showing blank. When I look at the proxy logs I can see it giving errors about odd bits and pieces.. example below, but as far as I can tell its working fine. Also when you look under "monitoring" --> "Latest data" the data is from 5 days ago.. when it stopped working.

Below as you can see, if you can see some errors from the template for items they do not exist... that says to me its working fine, all the successful things are not reported.

Proxy out of sync with server

          Hi,
I´ve a similar proxy with my proxies. The "last seen " value is less then 1 minute,
but the latest data for the items of the proxy or the hosts monitored by the proxy are more than 10 days old.

somehow the proxy MySQL database is going out of sync with the server.
Only dropping the proxy database and recreating to resolve it.

Running Zabbix v1.8.4RC2 on proxy and v1.8.3 on the server..

          any other ideas ?

          Franz

I had something very similar happen last night. I am running version 1.8.3 of proxy and server. I moved ~20 servers to the proxy and everything worked as expected. Latest data was being recorded, etc. I then proceeded with plan to migrate ~350 servers to the proxy. That was a complete disaster. The proxy was still checking in, but none of the perf data could be seen from the master. Even the original 20 stopped working. I couldn't find anything out of the ordinary in the logs. I ended up backing out the change and shutting off the proxy till I figure out what is going on.

                Suggestion..

                Hi,

I've recently posted a thread regarding the fragility of zabbix proxy (v1.8.1) sending data to zabbix server (1.8.3). My issue surrounds the trigger evaluation logic.

It's possbily nothing to do with the problems you guys are experiencing, however try the following:

                1) Disable ALL triggers on the zabbix server
                2) Reboot ANY / ALL zabbix proxies
                3) Observe the Latest Data screen to see if the item(s) in question starts to receive new data

I realise this is a drastic test to perform given that you (like me) have zabbix monitoring a production environment, however if you're desperate it could be worth a try.

Obviously once you have waited long enough to notice if this has helped, you can re-enable the triggers again.

Please let me know what the outcome is.
                Danny.

NB. In my case, after point 1) I rebooted the zabbix server before rebooting the proxy servers, however it may have been coincidental so you may not have to
