    icmpping keeps disabling itself

    Hi,

I'm running Zabbix 1.8 from the Debian Squeeze repo.

I have a template with a Simple Check type icmpping item in it called "Ping check".

When added, it'll be present in all my hosts, but grey.
After a while the item disappears from the overview page altogether.

When you go into any host that the template applies to, you can see that the Ping Check item is "Not supported".

How can a ping check not be supported?

I've read that it uses fping, fping is installed.
There's no firewall blocking icmp packets between it and the hosts it's pinging.

This used to work fine with Zabbix 1.4.6

Anybody any ideas why this doesn't work?

After some digging, it turns out the fping it was looking for was in /usr/bin/fping.

On Debian Squeeze, this is in /usr/sbin/fping.

    Symlinking it worked.

    ln -s /usr/sbin/fping /usr/bin/fping

you could also have changed FpingLocation in zabbix server config file
      Zabbix 3.0 Network Monitoring book

I had to do the reverse....

          Code:
           ln -s /usr/bin/fping /usr/sbin/fping
Zabbix agents on Linux, FreeBSD, Windows, AVM-Fritz!box, DD-WRT and QNAP
