    proxy monitoring problem

    Hi everyone,

I was searching for a long time now, but couldn't find any clues on how to solve my problem. I have a Zabbix Server 1.8.11 and a Zabbix Proxy 1.8.11. I have about 500 hosts that I need to monitor (and the number is constantly growing).

    The problem:
When I assing some of the hosts to the Proxy it seems like it's working fine and the Proxy is doing all the polling and data collection. But after a couple of minutes the "Host count" under Administration/DM/Proxies starts to decrease and the main Server takes over those hosts!
Why is this happening? I don't see anything in the logs. Neither in the Proxy nor in the Server. The only things there are "Sending configuration data to proxy" on the server and "Received configuration data from server." on the Proxy.

Please help me find the reason of this problem!
    Thanks!

What is 'Server' set to in the zabbix_agentd.conf on the hosts being monitored?

It should be set to the name of the zabbix proxy, and optionally followed by the zabbix server.

    Code:
    Server=zabbix-proxy.domain.com,zabbix-server.domain.com

Thanks for the reply, but in our configuration there are no zabbix agents. We're monitoring networking devices with SNMP.

Are you using autodiscovery? Do you have discovery rules assigned to the server instead of to the proxies?

Yes, we're using autodiscovery and it's assigned to the server. Does it make any difference?

            still not working

I tried to create a new proxy and put it into the same subnet as the monitored hosts, but the server still takes the monitoring back from it..

I have no clue at all what is causing this.. I can't see anything in the logs either..

you should assign your autodiscovery rule to the proxy server.

the server which discovers the client will claim responsibility for it.

                discovery

                thank you Dale!
it looks like this will solve our problem.
now the "Host count" under the proxy is increasing instead of decreasing
