    SNMP monitoring issue

    Hi,
I have a problem getting snmp monitoring up and running.

fping, snmpwalk and ping from the zabbix server to the host I want to monitor all works.

As a test I have used the following Cisco switch 24xGb template from:
    http://www.zabbix.com/wiki/templates/start

    SNMP setting on Cisco end:
    snmp-server community DC RO

Attached is a screenshot of some of the items on the template as well as the errors reported in zabbix.

The issue is most likely a configuration problem on the zabbix end since this is my first time setting up zabbix and since I've had snmp based monitoring of the same switches up and running before with some other software.

Layer 2 and 3 connectivity has been validated.

      Hi Kristan,
I have the same issue. Also setting up a new zabbix server 2.0 last week. Works great but snmp is not working from the gui. From the command line I can do a snmpget and snmpt walk.

I compiled the zabbix server as described in :

      ./configure --enable-server --enable-agent --with-mysql --enable-ipv6 --with-net-snmp --with-libcurl

      Did you already solved it?

        no

        No - unfortunately I haven't found a solution.
I've set it on standby since my next step will be to rebuild a template from scratch and I dont have time for that right now.

I'm running 1.18.12 from the epel packages on CentOS btw.

          SNMP can be tricky.
Are you sure the description for the ports are "GigabitEthernet1-0" in your switch ?

you can try snmpwalking ifDescr on your switch, and update accordingly the snmp OID in the template if the description don't match...
