    Simple Check - Ping

    dear all,

I am writing because I am indeed at my wits' end and I do not know how to continue any further.

I have a number of hosts I would Zabbix server to ping, printers, servers, gateways.

I have changed the user ownership of fping, and set the SUID. here is the proof:

    -rwsr-sr-x 1 root zabbix 23252 Jan 23 2010 fping
    -rwsr-sr-x 1 root zabbix 24052 Jan 23 2010 fping6

the log reports nothing out of the ordinary.

here is one the items for ping check:

    Key: icmpping[192.168.1.1,3,1000,56,500]
    host: 192.168.1.1 :161

    here is another froma template:

    key: icmpping[]
    host: 192.168.1.99 : 161

neither of them returns a value other than 0. from the Zabbiz server I can fping with the above paramenters all the hosts in questions the server's subnets and other subnets too. From Zabbix server I can successfully ping ( script ) all the hosts defined.

    Please help ...

      just icmpping

Also, could you try to just use "icmpping" as key, without all the qualifiers? (That's the way I have it defined, and that works for me.)
