    Zabbix host "unavailable"

    Good day all!

I have been using Zabbix happily for the last two years; My server queries the devices that I wish to monitor an all is well. The last week I found myself requiring the zabbix agent for the first time and for the life of me I cannot get this to work.

My Zabbix server has port 10051 open and I have configured the zabbix agent to the point where the log file no longer produces errors. I can telnet from the client machine to the server on port 10051 (should I be able to telnet the other way around)

There is one oddity to my network and that is NAT/routing. All my devices are on a management network: 172.17.0.0/22 My zabbix server is on 192.168.200.209. We use a VPN tunnel with the gateway of 12.10.X.Y. Now, as said, I have been monitoring like this for 2 years and pings ect from the server to the client are working. It is from the client machine using the agent back to the server that is not working. I can telnet to my zabbix server 192.168.200.209 by telnetting to 12.10.X.Y:10051 on the client machine so it seems that all my routes are configured correctly.

I have followed the zabbix documentation and followed this tutorial where relavent:

As this all seems very complicated, I would appreciate information on how best to debug a situation like this? Has anyone else had the agent "not work" and can maybe point me in the right direction?

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

    Thanks for your time,

    Rudolf

telnet from server to client on port 10050?

On the client, the zabbix agent listens on port 10050.

Can you telnet from the server to port 10050 on the client?
