    Zabbix Backup Not Running :(

My Zabbix Server is timing out due to the resource on the Zabbix Server.

I know it's maxed out due to lack of memory and speed of disks, but I'm about to move it to a more powerful box but need to take a full database backup first.

It did try stopping the zabbix-server.service for the duration of the back up it made no difference.

I was thinking I need to stop the zabbix-agent.service on the Zabbix Server instead.

I really just need to stop the connections to the box, any advice on what to stop to allow the backup to run?

    Kind Regards

    Jonny

I did have a look at that but it's not been updated since 2016 and only tested up to 3.0.7.

I'm using 3.4.5, does it backup everything?

      Cheers

        I use this https://www.percona.com/software/mys...ona-xtrabackup

It should work on any flavor of mysql. It has some options to throttle backup resource usage.

Sorry, haven't used this one for quite some time. Perhaps it's not an option. But you could throw those guys a message, perhaps they just haven't been updating the version on github.

I will do, as I need an automated process.

It appears my issue was a timeout issue with the backup software I was using due to the amount of rows in the history_uint and trend_uint tables, a combined 80 Million Rows.

So while the backup is not big in size it's the amount of rows that is causing my speed issue.

I have found a workaround at the moment, albeit a manual process using SQLyog Community version

I simply right click the Zabbix Database and choose the Backup/Export Option, select Structure and Data and backup.
