Double alert emails from Zabbix 4.0

When an event occurs resulting in an email being sent, we are receiving two emails. This is regardless of whether the action is a Trigger or an Auto registration. I have tried a test with bot an email and an SMS message being sent (the SMS messages are being sent via an external script media type) and it is only the email that is duplicated.

The Action log is showing only one entry, so it must be somewhere in the code that the email is being duplicated.

From my earlier post (https://www.zabbix.com/forum/zabbix-...bbix-4-version) I hoped that this may have been a problem because it was not installing the latest version, but my version is now showing as:
    Code:
    zabbix_server (Zabbix) 4.0.0
    Revision 85308 1 October 2018, compilation time: Oct 1 2018 08:14:47
and hopefully that is the latest version that I should be on.

Is there anything else I should supply to help sort out this problem?

I can confirm, just upgraded to different servers to 4.0 and both are sending duplicated emails. If I add a diferent media (mattermost/slack notifications for example) to the same action the mail is sent twice but the other media just once. I has to be something wrong in the email sending logic.

I've created the following bug report:

I know this thread is a little older but I want to add that we had the exact same issue and switching to authenticated for our smtp server corrected the issue for now. I'm not very good with Zabbix yet so I plan on doing a upgrade to the next release instead of manually patching like the posted bug report by ralgozinoasc.

Yes, SMTP with authentication is not affected by this bug, so switching to it should bypass the issue. Either way it should be fixed in the latest verison as you can see in the bug report.
