Have you tried downgrading to previous version?
Is there anything in mysql logs?

So this is what I am getting from the web
          Database error
The frontend does not match Zabbix database. Current database version (mandatory/optional): 0/0. Required mandatory version: 2020000. Contact your system administrator.

and this is now in the mysql log

InnoDB: using the same InnoDB data or log files.
InnoDB: Unable to lock ./ib_logfile0, error: 11
InnoDB: Check that you do not already have another mysqld process
InnoDB: using the same InnoDB data or log files.
          InnoDB: Error in opening ./ib_logfile0
140813 19:47:05 [ERROR] Plugin 'InnoDB' init function returned error.
140813 19:47:05 [ERROR] Plugin 'InnoDB' registration as a STORAGE ENGINE failed.

Did I miss something? What version are you upgrading from?

Have you tried googling with this errors?
There is something about deleting/moving ibdatalog files and restarting mysql - have you tried this?
Or maybe I misunderstand - the mysql service alone is starting but with those errors?

I would check for permissions on the mysql files for the MySQL user.

Also check this for possible solution http://dbhk.wordpress.com/2012/02/27...ile0-error-11/

Your issue is not zabbix, but the database itself.

I had this, and it was caused by Zentyal packages dropping a file with

                  Code:
                  innodb = off
                  into /etc/mysql/conf.d

Cue much confusion, as everything MySQL-based other than Zabbix worked fine. It seems that my Zabbix table was the only one that uses InnoDB!

                    Disabled InnoDB log file size

The answer is quite late but I hop it could help someone else.

I disabled "innodb_log_file_size" from /etc/my.cnf and restart mySQL.
                    Code:
                    #innodb_log_file_size = 64M
I cannot explain why. I got this settings on my old Zabbix server, but it doesn't work anymore on my new installation. Is it Zabbix or mySQL issue
