Issue with Agent on Windows

I have installed the agent on windows 2008 & 2012 r2 but I am having an issue where the service installs OK but doesnt start. I get the message that it didnt start in a timely fashion.

The config file has been edited. I have basically commented out the passive checks and set ServerActive.

the service properties has the path pointing to zabbix_agentd and the conf file.

Any help is appreciated.

Try to start the agent from a cmd.exe prompt. You can find the command used if you look at the zabbix services throught the services controlpanel item.

I had already tried that method.

The issue is resolved now but I don't know why.

I defined the attribute "Server" under passive in the conf and that made it start though it is in active mode because I have "ServerActive" defined.

You need to have startagents=0 to disable the passive agents from starting if you're only using active agents.
