    SNMP hosts not available

    Hi

    I have 6 hosts running the zabbix agent, those are working as expected. I've also setup 6 hosts to use SNMP, but Zabbix is getting no data and shows them as unavailable.

    Some background
    1. This is a new (downloaded yesterday) Zabbix appliance running as a guest in Virtualbox,
    Code:
    Zabbix 5.0 LTS 5.0.2 Jul 13, 2020 Open virtualization format (.ovf)
    2. The Zabbix appliance was compiled with snmp support
    Code:
    [root@appliance ~]# ldd /sbin/zabbix_server | egrep snmp
    libnetsnmp.so.35 => /lib64/libnetsnmp.so.35 (0x00007f545301d000)
    3. I've installed SNMP + utils. How crazy is it that these are not included in the appliance??
    Code:
    yum install net-snmp
    yum install net-snmp-utils
    4. I've manually configured 4 hosts in Zabbix to use SNMP, the community string in the Zabbix macro and on the device itself is "public".

    5. From the Zabbix appliance I can snmpwalk the same device (cut short for brevity)
    Code:
    [root@appliance zabbix]# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 10.1.3.221
    SNMPv2-MIB::sysDescr.0 = STRING: HP ETHERNET MULTI-ENVIRONMENT
    SNMPv2-MIB::sysObjectID.0 = OID: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.11.2.3.9.1
    DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (106607193) 12 days, 8:07:51.93
    SNMPv2-MIB::sysContact.0 = STRING:
    SNMPv2-MIB::sysName.0 = STRING: celnz1-prt01
    SNMPv2-MIB::sysLocation.0 = STRING:
    SNMPv2-MIB::sysServices.0 = INTEGER: 72
    SNMPv2-MIB::sysORLastChange.0 = Timeticks: (0) 0:00:00.00
    IF-MIB::ifNumber.0 = INTEGER: 4
    IF-MIB::ifIndex.2 = INTEGER: 2
    IF-MIB::ifDescr.2 = STRING: Eth0
    IF-MIB::ifType.2 = INTEGER: ethernetCsmacd(6)
    IF-MIB::ifMtu.2 = INTEGER: 1500
    IF-MIB::ifSpeed.2 = Gauge32: 10000000
    IF-MIB::ifPhysAddress.2 = STRING: c8:d3:ff:85:6d:4b
    ... continues on from here
    I'm new to Zabbix, if you could point me to the log files useful to daignose this. All I am seeing in /var/log/zabbix/zabbix_server.log is
    Code:

    I ended up deleting the appliance and starting again. Eventually got it working, but I think what made the difference is adding SNMP to the discovery checks
