It looks like it is, but I can't find it referenced in the documentation anywhere. I got a question from our network team that some of their devices with a large number of SNMP interfaces, only "some" of them get DNS names.

Not when polling or communicating with the host, it appears that when defined with IP only, something is doing DNS and entering the DNS name in the interface definition. The issue was found because people frequently use search on a name and didn't find an expected entry, then found a host with many interfaces (100? didn't count) but many didn't have DNS values. -

IP - Connect to the host IP address (recommended)
