Option like device modeling in zenoss

Hi,

I am trying to monitor some storage devices which has metrics from few thousands to 500k metrics per cycle. Is there any concepts like device modeling (similar to zenoss device modeling ). and documents for modeling and monitoring a device will be helpful.
