    hey people of zabbix.
im trying to monitor my switches (hp.cisco)
and i read that i need to use the snmp for this.
i enabled snmp on the switches
enabled snmp traps in zabbix server conf file

I'm new to Zabbix and the community.
    Depends on your goals.
I currently only know about snmp queries.

From the main config page, configuration, hosts and in upper right corner "create host".
From create host page. fill in host name, select a host group(if you have one) and (this is important) click "Add" to and your IP and snmp query details.
    Finally click add...
Let me know how it goes.

Zabbix supports both SNMP queries ("polling") and SNMP TRAPs, but queries are much easier to use "out of the box". They both use the SNMP protocol and can be configured to use any version of the protocol, but they are quite different conceptually.

Read up on SNMP query vs SNMP TRAP for more information on how they differ.

If you're going to use SNMP TRAPs with Zabbix, you need to configure the OS's 'snmptrapd' and you need to install one of the scripts or programs (snmptt, the Perl trap receiver, etc.) that act as a translation layer between 'snmptrapd' and Zabbix. The setup is covered in the Zabbix documentation section on SNMP TRAPs, but it's complicated because recent versions of RHEL (and CentOS and other distros based upon RHEL) are no longer including some of the necessary components to make this translation layer work. See: https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-17192

so what can i monitor with query?
i enabled it and made a host on the query but i only see the availability as green and no more.
no graphs no nothing even when i put templates as "template module host-resources-min snmpv1"
is it the right template for it?

You probably need to read up on SNMP, as most of your questions are general questions about SNMP, not anything specific to Zabbix.

With SNMP on devices like network switches, you can monitor only what your switch vendor chose to expose via SNMP. So, the way to find out what you can monitor is to get the correct MIB file for your exact switch and any other documentation your switch vendor provides related to SNMP monitoring and what information is available.
