    ESXi Monitoring

    Morning all,

I have added my ESXi server to Zabbix, using the VMware template. What I see on the console is that there is no agent on the ESXi side. Do I need to enable something on the ESXi side to make this work?

    Thanks,
    Steve

If you use Zabbix standard VMware template, do not install Zabbix agent on ESXi server.
To monitor the ESXi server, start the process for collecting VMware information and configure the settings to access the ESXi SDK. Make sure that the value of StartVMwareCollectors in Zabbix server settings is 1 or higher. If not, set it to 1 or higher and restart the zabbix_server process.
Check the URL to access VMware and SDK and the account used to connect, link the template "Template VM VMware" to the registered host, and then set the macro value of the host.

Thanks for this. I had followed the documentation but I also implmented the Linux agent for my Linux vms. It seems that I get more info from the ESXi template, with the exception of CPU performance for the vm, and the Linux agent gets me this without any of the other pieces. I am curious. Do ppl just rely on the ESXi template for vm stats or is it a combination of both?
