Zabbix proxy 5.2 for Debian 8 Jessie

    Greetings!

Trying to install proxy version 5.2 to Debian 8 Jessie. I've added repository using https://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/5.2/d...ebian8_all.deb but it seems there is no zabbix-proxy-mysql package in this repository. The only version that apt-cache finds is 1:2.2.23+dfsg-0+deb8u1 from Debian's own repositories.

The agent's version is 5.2 from Zabbix repositories.
    Code:
    1:5.2.6-1+debian8 0
    500 http://repo.zabbix.com/zabbix/5.2/debian/ jessie/main amd64 Packages
My question is - am I missing something? Is Zabbix proxy available for this OS? Maybe I can install Zabbix proxy from source?

P.S. I need proxy 5.2 since it's the version of my server.

For Debian 8 only agent and tools 5.2 are available. Same for CentOS 7.

      Thanks for confirmation.

Just to be sure - is building from source also not an option?

No, you can do that. You would need to install newer dependencies that are not provided by the OS. Or use backports.

Got it up and running. Even didn't have to install backports, only a couple of dependencies.

But have a couple of question:

          1. The config file is located in /usr/local/etc/zabbix_proxy.conf Is it possible to move it to /etc/zabbix/zabbix_proxy.conf ?

          2. Where I can get a .service file for systemd? The source code only has init.d file and only for agent and server (in misc/init.d/debian)

            1. Should be so if you run configure with --sysconfdir=/etc .
            2. Download the source package and get them from there. You will need to install zabbix-release package and then run:
            Code:
            sudo apt update
            cd /tmp
            apt source zabbix
            find zabbix*/debian -name '*.service'

              Hello,
I am currently trying to deploy a full monitoring infrastructure for a small company in France, and we chose Zabbix to do that.

Some of the machines I need to install the proxy on, are Debian 8 machines (Jessie), and - as the answers above say - it is only possible via the sources

But I am quite new to this, and I find it very difficult to find documentation on how to install proxy from sources, for Zabbix 5.2.

Could you please help me by directing me to some install/config documentation about it?
I have no preference about the Database used (mysql, postgres... all are fine to me)

              Thanks in advance.

              _Mathieu

                Thank you
But I have already (quite obviously) read it, and am not quite sure of how to deal with it.

For the packet installation, I had found many tutorials, and a lot of very detailed explainations.
But for the source install, it is very difficult for me.

For instance, in the official documentation, I am not sure of how to install the database (when the sql are not included in the git sources), and the .configure options confuse me...

As I said, I am quite new to this all compiling from sources matter

                Thanks anyways

Great! Thanks, I did skip to git
Now I have all aI needed for the database.

Any tips for the ./configure --options?
I think I'll need to put the "with mysql" option, but for the other ones, well... not sure at all :/

Thank you, btw. This is all kinda new to me, and I feel less insecure now, but still, this is a huge step forward

                    Hi
Well, sorry for asking again, but...
... well... I did read all that, and I thought I'd ask around here if someone knew what each of these options were.

I honestly was not expecting a RTFM answer...

Please, do believe me when I tell you that I'm trying, and that I did read all the things you tell me to read.

So, do you have tips, or do you know a place I could go to to find some? - a place that is not the (very dry) documentation.

I am leaning toward the similar issue as with RH7... no available software (needed php etc versions) and thus not supported.
                        If you look at
Zabbix is being downloaded over 4 000 000 times every year for a reason. Download and install Zabbix for free and try it yourself!

then you will not get any downloadable things for server and debian 8 or 9...you can get them for deb10.
                        8 and 9...

You read it and most obviously skipped the download section and continued to git...
                            1 DOWNLOAD THE SOURCE ARCHIVE
                            Go to the
Download sources from Git repository or ready-to-use Zabbix distributives

                            and download the source archive.
Specially downloaded source tarball from there and unpacked and verified.. schema.sql is there for mysql, oracle, postgre and sqlite3
                            find . -name schema.sql
                            ./zabbix-5.2.6/database/mysql/schema.sql
                            ./zabbix-5.2.6/database/oracle/schema.sql
                            ./zabbix-5.2.6/database/postgresql/schema.sql
                            ./zabbix-5.2.6/database/sqlite3/schema.sql

To see all of the supported configuration options, inside the extracted Zabbix source directory run:
                              ./configure --help
Choose what you need and use them.
