So I recently decided to update our Cisco equipment to use SNMPv3 and as part of this project I am also integrating Zabbix into our environment. I have added a handful of devices and have been editing the built in Cisco IOS SNMP Template with the proper OIDs to make them work with each device. However, I have run into an issue where I cannot get our 4300 series Cisco routers to work via SNMPv3. I can do an snmpwalk from the Zabbix server with no problems and I also have added a handful of Cisco switches with no issues at all (SNMP config is the same on all of the devices).
Zabbix Troubleshooting:
- Reboot Server
- Reload snmp cache
- Tried new encryption type
- snmpwalk was successful
- snmpv2 works fine
Router Troubleshooting:
- Checked for version bugs
- Ran debugs which showed the security level coming in as noauth
- Changed the EngineID
Any input of what to try next would be appreciated. I would like to migrate fully to SNMPv3 but im currently migrating with both just so I can start monitoring our devices. Thanks in advance for the assistance!
