Problem to collect SNMP data on Vmware Esxi host

    Hi everyone.
I have configured a Zabbix server with the latest version and connected a lot of hosts with both agent and SNMP methods: they are working fine.
These are the steps i have done:

    - configured the community on esxcli with the name 'esx'
    - configured the target to the Zabbix server
    - restartd the snmpd agent server
    - configured the host on Zabbbix server with the same community

but the Zabbix server not communicate with Esxi: the SNMP icon remain in grey color.

I attach the status of the SNMP agent on ESXI server.

What i can check on the Zabbix server?

    Thanks.

Check that you can connect to esx by running the command
    Code:
    snmpwalk -v2c -c your_community esx_ip 1.3.6.1
    on the zabbix server (proxy).
And which version of SNMP are you setting up? v2 or v3?

      Hi.
The SNMP version used is 2.

The result of a snmpwalk is a lot of row with a valid value

Are you using any template with snmp items? Or just an snmp-type items?
If there is nothing to poll, the status of the SNMP interface will not turn green.

The template applied is Vmware, as shown in attach.
If i di Monitoring/Host Ping Script it respond correctly.

Template name can be "vmware", but what kind of items you have in there?

        It is the default template.
Effectively there are only 3 Items and no Triggers

      This one? https://www.zabbix.com/integrations/vmware#vmware
      /facepalm...
If you notice, there is not a single SNMP item...

        I see, but....

        I tried these steps
        - First i used a "Linux by SNMP" template, and the SNMP icon become green, becouse some general information was read from Esx host: so the communication with the SNMP community is working fine

        - Then i used "VMware Guest" template: in the documentation is specified that is used 3 macros {$VMWARE.PASSWORD}, {$VMWARE.URL}, {$VMWARE.USERNAME}
I insert the appropriate value in the the Inerithed and Host Macros tab (is requested also a {$SNMP_COMMUNITY}) but in that case the communication not work: icon gray and error in the Monitoring / Latest Data Collection.
        Why?

      Why, you ask?

Because you don't care to read docs... https://www.zabbix.com/documentation.../vm_monitoring.

And please, answer with a post, not with a comment (I don't understand, why they keep the feature at all). Otherwise it is not possible to properly quote or answer to you ..
