Vmware Discovery / Host groups display issue?

    Hi,

I've deployed 2 separate Vcenter7 Zabbix templates. Both behaving strange with latest data.

I only modified the host groups organization under discovery so I have:
    Company/VMWARE
    Company/VMWARE/HOSTS
    Company/VMWARE/VC
    Company/VMWARE/VMs

I don't understand this display issue / filtering on latest data.
If I select Host Groups = Company/VMWARE/VMs (Where all discovered VMs go)
Not every VM is listed that has been discovered.
But if I choose both Host groups Company/VMWARE/VMs + manually select the host then all discovered VMs are displayed to choose from.
If I select a VM that is "hidden" when viewing the host group alone it has all the same data present.
Then if I select both host group Company/VMWARE/VMs + select every VM under hosts it will also not display them all. Just like if I filtered by host group alone.
    (No sub filter tags selected)

Can someone please share why is happening? Thank you.

Edit: Further review the issue appears to be related by two factors.
If Vcenter VM itself is selected it impacts some other VMs to display.
Then also an issue with like named VMs. For example TMRD.Domain.local + TMRDS.Domain.local. Only wants to display 1 at a time.

    Hello,

The issue you are experiencing with your deployed Vcenter7 Zabbix templates seems to be related to the display and filtering of data. When selecting the Host Group "Company/VMWARE/VMs," not all discovered VMs are listed. However, if you choose both the Host Group "Company/VMWARE/VMs" and manually select the host, all the discovered VMs are displayed.

It appears that selecting the Vcenter VM itself impacts the display of some other VMs. Additionally, there seems to be an issue with similarly named VMs, where only one of them is displayed at a time—for example, "TMRD.Domain.local" and "TMRDS.Domain.local." mcdvoice

This could potentially be a bug or misconfiguration within the Vcenter7 Zabbix templates. It is recommended to review the template configurations, ensure that the filters are correctly set, and check for any known issues or updates related to the templates.

I hope the information helps you.

    Thanks with regards,
    Stacyfuentes

Thanks for replying. Very new to zabbix but believe I modified the templates correctly. But perhaps not...
All discovered objects are correct under data collection - "host groups" and are available for individual selection under latest data. Just can't show them all via host group filter only?
      Discovery has no errors displayed.

What I did to get the desired hierarchy for Vmware is clone 3x Vmware templates. Each company would have 3 templates that came with Zabbix 6.4.3 (VMware + VMware Guest + VMware Hypervisor)

      VMware template
Discovery rule renamed = COMPANY/_VMWARE/Discover/VMware VMs

      Modified host prototypes {#VM.UUID}
Linked Tempalte = VMware Guest - Company (cloned)
      Host groups = /Company/VMWARE/VMS

      Groups prototypes
      COMPANY/_VMWARE/DISCOVER/HOSTS/{#HV.NAME}
      COMPANY/_VMWARE/DISCOVER/INV/{#DATACENTER.NAME}/{#VM.FOLDER} (vm)
      COMPANY/_VMWARE/DISCOVER/CLUSTERS/{#CLUSTER.NAME} (vm)

Anything wrong with this? I do not see any filters or overrides enabled for this discovery rule.

      Thank you.
