    vm.memory.size[<mode>]

mode can be total (default), active, anon, buffers, cached, exec, file, free, inactive, pinned, shared, slab, wired, used, pused (used, percentage), available, or pavailable (available, percentage)

The futility is that OS's want to use all the memory they can to make life better, for example, disk cache. Unused memory is burying money in the back yard. You have it, it's not working for you. I always enable swap, then watch swap rates. Let the arguments begin :-)
