    SNMP v3 Cisco C9300-48U

I have been searching all over and various forums to see if anyone has got SNMP v3 working with Cisco C9300-48u switch, so far I cannot find any success stories.

Is there anyone who has this working? Have you got your Zabbix monitoring Cisco C9300 (or C9400) switches using SNMP v3 successfully?

Version 2 is straight forward but v3....why is it so difficult? ...unless I'm missing something?

If you do have it working, could you please let me know how, it really would be a big relief

What is it, that does not work out ? Considering v2 and v3 from contents point of view are same, v3 just adds a layer of security, it should not be rocket surgery? If it is a relief for you, I can say it works for us... I did not do it.. did not touch any switch nor did configure any template. Our network people did it by themselves...

When I enter the below SNMP v3 config on the Cisco C9300 switch the 'SNMP Availability' status (under Monitoring >> Hosts turn Red and no data is pulled from the switch to Zabbix. The moment I change to SNMP v2 the SNMP Availability status changes to green and all data is pulled through.

      snmp-server group <group name> v3 priv read <view name>
      snmp-server user <snmp user> <group name> v3 auth sha <auth pw> priv aes 256 <priv pw>
      snmp-server view <view name> iso included

      On Zabbix :
      Context Name: blank
      Security name: <snmp user>
      Security Level: authPriv
      Authentication Protocol: SHA1
      Authentication Password: <auth pw>
      Privacy Protocol: AES256
      Privacy Passphrase: <priv pw>

Under Data Collection >> Hosts the error message says 'Timeout while connecting to <ip address of switch:161>

There is no firewall or access-list on the switch. So what did you do to make it work on SNMP v3? what switch model are you using?

Also I have similar setting on Solarwind for v3 and it works with no issues.

From command line with snmpwalk it also fails? Do you have time sync in place, it is very important for v3 to have all times in sync.

Yes snmpwalk also times out on v3 (v2 is good). I'll check time sync. Also tried changing Engine ID to make sure.
