Host Status - Item

Hi Guys,

I have been switched to zabbix from nagios, Zabbix is a great tool !!
I have a little problem using it:

I did not understand "Host Availability", my hosts are behind firewall, then I'm using active checks only.

When I create a item like:
Description Host Status
Type ZABBIX agent (active)
Key status
Type of information Numeric (integer 64bit)
Units
Use multiplier Do not use Custom multiplier
Status Monitored Disabled Not supported
Store value As is Delta (speed per second) Delta (simple change)
Show value throw map As is

I get it on zabbix server log:

008019:20070110:152309 Type of received value [ZBX_NOTSUPPORTED
] is not suitable for [[email protected]]

This parameter does not exist on zabbix agent, then How I get Host Status using Active Checks only ??

I don't believe you will be able to do that with only active checks... anyone feel free to chime in if I'm wrong..

but a workaround you can setup a trigger that monitors one of the active check items and using the nodata function and consider a host unreachable when there has been no data collected for X amount of time.

I will use agent.ping with nodata() function to substitute that feature,
