    1.4.1 win32 agent changes?

    Some notes...

-The H in hostname and S in server appears to be required caps. This wasn't very straight forward.

-"Active check [eventlog[System]] is not supported. Disabled." No more eventlog support?

It requires caps at least since 1.4 and according to the documentation it must be Hostname and Server.

I cannot confirm the eventlog[] issue yet.

Ok, has ANYONE gotten eventlog support to work with a 1.4.1 agent? I'd rather not spin my wheels if someone else can confirm yay/nay.

No, I haven't got it to work. I had to go back to a previous SVN version of the W32 agent to get it to work.

This is starting to get frustrating as hell. 1.4 was nowhere near stable and neither is 1.4.1. One bug gets fixed but others appear.

Alexei, how about we get a stable 1.4.x version with all bugs fixed before adding or changing functionality to Zabbix.

            Hi All,

Like JonB, just want to tell my opinion on Zabbix.

Zabbix is one of the best tool for monitoring IT.
The functionnalities are great, and it's all-in-one approach is very nice.

BUT Zabbix can't continue to be so buggy!
I started @ the end of 2006 with Zabb 1.1.4, waiting for the 1.4 [ planned for Jan 2007 @ this time ].

It has been so long to wait for that 1.4, and i was so sad to discover such a bad piece of software: impossible to migrate from 1.1 to 1.4, and many others problems.

So i was much confident when i saw that the 1.4.1 was released, with the promess to resolve main of the issues
I download it as soon as it has been available and re-tried the migration process between Zab 1.1.7.
But the problems are still there: some maps have disappeared during the migration, and it's a too long process to verify that everything is there!

Even i cannot define items that previously worked like 'S23:named.nlm' on Netware server : the syntax is refused!!

I cannot confirm either. What we discovered is that if an agent (1.4.1) is unable to format event message (because of missing DLL, some other reasons), it will report UNSUPPORTED.

I believe that all reported migration related problems were fixed in 1.4.1. Give us some more details if you'd like to see your migration problems fixed.

Any status on the event log problem? I am testing the 1.4.1 agent. So far, I don't see the reason to move to 1.4.1 agent. I am going to stick to the 1.1.7 agent until some of these issues are resolved.

sorry, but any migration from 1.1.x to 1.4.1 ends with this problems ... and i ask for solutions, but there is no answer.
sorry, @ this point it will be better to go back to Version 1.4RC1 and extend beta testing ....
