    Please help !!!!

I have clients yelling at me because they are all recieving alerts meant for other clients!!!! I have one client who is recieving alerts about a server down when they are only listed on an alert that fires when their own server has less than 20% disk space !!!

It's costing me a fortune in overtime just to firefight the alerts, let alone any problems causing them. Over 30 have gone to the wrong people tonight alone !!!

    WHAT IS GOING ON !!!!!

    The logic says...
    (A) and (B) and (C or D)
    (A) Host group = "CLIENTA"
    (B) Trigger = "<20% disk space on C"
    (C) Trigger value = "TRUE"
    (D) Trigger value = "FALSE"

SO WHY ARE THEY GETTING THIS?

    <CLIENTB_HOST1>.Ping to server: OFF
    Date: 2007.08.31
    Time: 22:41:53
    ID: 110636
This alert was raised by "<CLIENTA> - Disk space <20%"

Note how the alert is being fired when CLIENTB_HOST1 is not responding, yet the alert "<CLIENTA> - DISK SPACE <20%", as mentioned above, only looks for a trigger of "<20% disk space" ????????

To make it worse, I have posted all over the place about this and apparently no one has any help about it!?!??!

    I've tried this patch

But it hasn't helped. However the problems are EXACTLY the same as that poster reports. Alerts are going out for Alerts that simply don't match the trigger.

It would be nice if you could mention ZABBIX version is well, not only problem description...

        ZABBIX Server (daemon) v1.4 (29 May 2007)
        Compilation time: Jul 27 2007 07:13:38

I've just tried recompiling it with that patch included from the outset, and it's still happening.

I've also just quickly downloaded and tried 1.4.2 and configured and installed that, but it's still happening. Saying that the zabbix_server still reports 1.4, so i don't know whether its missing the minor version number off or whether something happened in the install.

how is your trigger defined ?
is it a host trigger, template trigger ?

                Check location of startup

Also check the location of the zabbix_server file.

In 1.4.1 and previous, it installed to /usr/local/bin

In 1.4.2 it installs to /usr/local/sbin. If you did not update the startup scripts, you may have both version on the server and are starting the old one, not the new one with the correct updates.
