    Host status not updating.

    Hi,

I have issues with zabbix item "status". I had 1.4.2 installed on debian, then upgraded to test version 1.4.3, but host status is not working. Actualy it stopped working on 1.4.1.

When i do manual query with zabbix_get i get this :

    heseos:~# zabbix_get -s10.69.23.230 -p10050 -k"status"
    ZBX_NOTSUPPORTED
    heseos:~# zabbix_get -s10.69.23.230 -p10050 -k"agent.ping"
    1
    heseos:~# zabbix_get -s10.69.23.230 -p10050 -k"agent.version"
    1.4.2
    heseos:~#

    Anyone has an idea ?

I'm not sure how many people actually use host status. I'd be curious to hear ... I know status exists, but I never understood the point. Maybe its something zabbix uses internally or the documentation has something about it.

I think your best bet to determine if a host is down is use agent.ping (or any other item) item with a nodata trigger.

You are right. The host status has limited use and is actually useless in case if active checks are only used.

          Hmm, but

          {Template_Windows:agent.ping.last(0)}#1&{Template_ Windows:agent.ping.nodata(120)}=1

          Never triggers

ZABBIX works absolutely right. The agent.ping ALWAYS returns 1, read the manual.
