4 Zabbix processes

Overview

Zabbix consists of several processes that work together to monitor systems and send notifications. Each process has a specific role in the monitoring infrastructure.

Core processes

  • Server - the central process that performs polling and trapping of data, calculates triggers, and sends notifications to users.
  • Agent - collects data from monitored hosts.
  • Agent 2 - a new generation agent with plugin architecture and enhanced capabilities.
  • Proxy - collects monitoring data from monitored devices and sends the information to Zabbix server.
  • Java gateway - enables monitoring of Java applications.
