Creating templates

This section contains official Zabbix template writing guidelines and reflects our current approach to template building. It is a set of recommendations and best practices developed over the years of template-building experience. We do not claim that every Zabbix template should fit into these guidelines, but we do believe that sharing the same approach helps create well-working unified templates.

How to work with this section:

1. We recommend reading Key principles before you begin working on your first template. The page contains general insights on Zabbix approach to template building.
2. Use configuration section for specific instructions on configuring a template and it's items, triggers, discovery rules, and graphs.
3. Before uploading a template to the Community repository, make sure that it meets all Community template requirements.
