    Disable repeated alerts

    Hi,

I configured triggers in order to disable repeated alerts but it doesn't work.

I have thousand of alerts in 3 weeks, but the status of the trigger doesn't change. So why do I have repeated alerts ?

In trigger's configuration, I have this parameter "Event generation : Normal" and in actions' configuration, the parameter "enable escalation" is not checked".

Can you help me please ?

    Damn you have repeated alerts?!
How often do you get them?
I've been wanting to enable that for ages.
Can't find the docs or forum entry on how to do it.

Anyone want to elaborate on the black art?

To get repeated alerts, you have two solutions :

      - enable the parameter "normal + multiple true events " in triggers view (part "event generation")

      - enable this in actions view, check the parameter "enable escalations" and choose the period

      Best regards,

I've had the second solution enabled since day one.
        My default trigger action has
        enabled escalations checked
        Period is 600

I receive a single email and none until recovery(As I have recovery message checked)

I have a single Action operation:
        step 1 to 1 period 600
        Op type: send message
Send message to usergroup UNIX admins
        default message is checked.
        No conditions.

        Any ideas?
I really need repeat notifications. Sometimes the Admins don't wake up after a single notification.
Also when we ack an event notifications stop right?

        Thanks

        Chris

I advice you to choose the first one :

          - enable the parameter "normal + multiple true events " in triggers view (part "event generation")

I had tried that one as well, but it would send an email every minute and when the trigger recovered it would send a recovery email for EVERY problem email that went out.
SO if I left apache down for 10 minutes I would receive 10 emails and when I started it back up I would receive 10 OK emails.

            Was quite annoying.
            Any other suggestions?

            Thx

            Chris

Now I can't stop the events from coming!
I made some changes and now I am getting notifications every 10 mins for a recovery message. How do I make them stop?
                My settings had:
                Step From: 1 To: 0
                Period 600
Set up this way so as to notify me every 10 mins when a service is having a problem.
When it recovers the action SHOULD be to send a single recovery message.
Instead it is now just sending a recovery message every 10 mins. Indefinitely.

Note: I even acknowledged the event assuming that would stop the barrage of emails. Nope, still coming in.

                I could use some assistance.

                Thanks

                Chris

                    Unfortunately, that did not work.
