Log file location - zabbix server

    1. I'm totally new to Ubuntu and Zabbix
    2. we have successfully (we feel) installed and configured Zabbix 1.6.4 server on Ubuntu and agents on Windows servers and desktops
    3. we can see all relevant ports are open
    4. no new data is coming into Zabbix server (not even the local agent on that machine)
    5. where are the log files located so we can at least confirm that the data is getting sent?

Usually zabbix logs are placed under /tmp

    zabbix_agentd.log for Zabbix Agent

    and

    zabbix_server.log for Zabbix Server

    or

to search for them type in:
    find / -name 'zabbix_server.log'

    /S

Once you get your current issues ironed out, it would be a good idea for you to go to a higher version of 1.6.x - I would go to at least 1.6.7

And the current release, 1.8.2, has more functionality than does 1.6.x

On your windows machines that you are monitoring, your zabbix_agentd.conf file should contain a line:
LogFile=c:\zabbix or wherever you want the log to go. I think if that is not defined, it writes to the SysLog and makes the Admins unhappy. Any time you make a change to the zabbix conf file, be sure to restart the agent service.
