        thanks - note that it is, of course, fully up to you how much time you can and want to devote
        even small contributions are appreciated.

          ...ping ?
          since adding, zh_tw has not received a single update, so i'm considering removing it again...

            I replied to the thread: https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZB...#comment-61498

            I left Zabbix stuff for months, waiting for the new 2.0 release. I am back now.

            The followings are updated for the just released 2.0.1:
            (1) to add zh_TW support in locales.inc.php:
            $ sed -i "/English (en_GB)/ a\ 'zh_TW' => _('Chinese (zh_TW)')," locales.inc.php
            $ sed -i "/'en_gb' => 'english',/ a\ 'zh_tw' => 'chinese-traditional'," locales.inc.php

            (2) to make font autochange happen in graphs.inc.php:
            $ sed -i "/\$gdinfo = gd_info();/ a\ global \$USER_DETAILS;" graphs.inc.php
            $ sed -i "s/ZBX_FONT_NAME.'.ttf'/\$USER_DETAILS['lang'].'.ttf'/g" graphs.inc.php
            $ sed -i "s/ZBX_GRAPH_FONT_NAME.'.ttf'/\$USER_DETAILS['lang'].'.ttf'/g" graphs.inc.php

            (3) And, the fonts:
            cd to fonts directory:
            (3.1)Simplified Chinese: this font wqy-zenhei will show all words correctly. Many others I have tested just wouldn't do.
            $ wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pro...-0.9.45.tar.gz
            $ tar xfzv wqy-zenhei-0.9.45.tar.gz
            $ ln -s wqy-zenhei/wqy-zenhei.ttc zh_CN.ttf
            (3.2) Traditional Chinese font:
            $ wget http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/....1.orig.tar.gz
            $ tar xfzv ttf-arphic-uming_0.2.20080216.1.orig.tar.gz uming.ttc
            $ ln -s uming.ttc zh_TW.ttf
            (3.3) English:
            $ ln -s DejaVuSans.ttf en_GB.ttf

            (4) The locale strings. I am working on it. I will use nano and sed to translate the po file.

            Here is the script I used to update 2.0.1:
            #!/bin/bash
            ZABBIX=<please change to your zabbix frontend base directory>
            #The followings are updated for the just released 2.0.1:
            #(1) to add zh_TW support in locales.inc.php:
            sed -i "/English (en_GB)/ a\ 'zh_TW' => _('Chinese (zh_TW)')," $ZABBIX/include/locales.inc.php
            sed -i "/'en_gb' => 'english',/ a\ 'zh_tw' => 'chinese-traditional'," $ZABBIX/include/locales.inc.php

            #(2) to make font autochange happen in graphs.inc.php:
            sed -i "/\$gdinfo = gd_info();/ a\ global \$USER_DETAILS;" $ZABBIX/include/graphs.inc.php
            sed -i "s/ZBX_FONT_NAME.'.ttf'/\$USER_DETAILS['lang'].'.ttf'/g" $ZABBIX/include/graphs.inc.php
            sed -i "s/ZBX_GRAPH_FONT_NAME.'.ttf'/\$USER_DETAILS['lang'].'.ttf'/g" $ZABBIX/include/graphs.inc.php

            #(3) And, the fonts:
            #(3.1)Simplified Chinese: this font wqy-zenhei will show all words correctly. Many others I have tested just wouldn't do.
            cd $ZABBIX/fonts
            wget http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pro...-0.9.45.tar.gz
            tar xfzv wqy-zenhei-0.9.45.tar.gz
            ln -s wqy-zenhei/wqy-zenhei.ttc zh_CN.ttf
            #(3.2) Traditional Chinese font:
            wget http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/....1.orig.tar.gz
            tar xfzv ttf-arphic-uming_0.2.20080216.1.orig.tar.gz uming.ttc
            ln -s uming.ttc zh_TW.ttf
            #(3.3) English:
            ln -s DejaVuSans.ttf en_GB.ttf

            Please correct the font urls since this forum shrink the urls.

              heya - info on fonts might be useful, but what about actual translation ? where would users get that from ?

                translation

                I have translated just 68% of the file frontend.po in zh_TW. Not all strings should be translated. The current translation should present the interface in Chinese although some translations may be my personal prefreneces. I have attached two files frontend.mo-zh_TW-20120720T0937-brian.huang.zip and frontend.po-zh_TW-20120720T0937-brian.huang.zip.

                I have been modifying the file while working on Zabbix projects on the field so that I can do better translation. Should I make any mistakes, please contact me at brian.huang at primillet.com.

                  hey, that's awesome - do you have an account at zabbix pootle ? that's where we do al the 2.0 translation work.

                  if you do, you could get perms on the relevant language and upload the po file yourself. that should also attribute all those translations to you, not me

                  as for stuff that shouldn't be changed from english, just put the same string in the translation - that will indicate that these strings have been looked at and decision not to change them was made

                    I did register an account with pootle back on 20110703. Unfortunately, I am unable to logon. I just registered a new account as 'Yaochiu'. Are you going to assign me to manage the Chinese Translation? I will do more translation using POEditor. If I can upload the po file to Pootle, things will be easier for me. But, I couldnot figure out hoe to uploade a po file.

                    In addition, I found one person in China and willing to help me translate Zabbix into zh_CN based on my zh_TW translation.

                    By the way, will my idea of font changer modifications to be integrated into the new release? If so, I don't need to do sed for every updates.

                      you should have permissions on zh_tw now, and you should see "Upload File" section in the overview tab

                      that's great - we'd just need him to register on pootle & assign permissions. note that zh_cn is already there, although only 24% of strings are translated

                      something like that should be done, but that should be handled through the issue system

                        Thanks for opening the upload feature for me. Since it is late in Taiwan now, I will upload a new version of the po file tomorrow or later this week.

                            I just uploaded my frontend.po to pootle. The current status is 74% in terms of strings. I will continue to finish up the translation.

                            I can also do zh_CN. It is a matter of converting from zh_TW to zh_CN. If you can assign me to do the same thing for zh_CN, I can do zh_CN later.

                                Permission Denied You do not have rights to upload new files here.

                                I got this error on Pootle:

                                Permission Denied

                                You do not have rights to upload new files here.

                                Here is the situation:
                                I uploaded a new frontend.po to replace the first one. Apparently I don't have the right to upload again to replace the existing frontend.po file.

                                The reason for me to use offline editing is I can use gEdit and POEdit to do bulk replacing to correct my previous mistakes quickly. The current zh_TW status is 82%, according to POEdit. I'd like to upload it to Pootle. Please help. Or, I can send the file to you.

                                For shom may concern: I found that the row and column have "opposite" meanings in zh_TW and zh_CN. That is, row in Taiwan means column in China, and vice verse. That is so strange. No wonder I got confused at the beginning and I corrected the mistake.
