    [SNMP][Xerox MFP & OID subtree management]

    Good Afternoon,

    I want manage Xerox MFP with Zabbix through SNMP, especially to get printer error message like paper jam, no toner, etc.

    I get OID, and MIB from support:
    MIB https://www.activexperts.com/admin/m...le=printer-mib && http://origin-download.support.xerox.com/pub/drivers/MIBs/
    OID .1.3.6.1.2.1.43.18.1.1.8

    I've put MIB on Zabbix server, and reloaded the SNMP daemon.
    When i do a snmpget i get it :

    Error in packet
    Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.
    Failed object: .1.3.6.1.2.1.43.18.1.1.8
    In fact with this OID, when an error occurs, if i do a snmpwalk i get a value which is in a subtree of this OID, but the value of the subtree is unknown until the error occurs.
    For example :
    .1.3.6.1.2.1.43.18.1.1.8.1.512 = Hex-STRING: 30 30 35 2D 31 32 31 20 49 6E 63 69 64 65 6E 74
    20 70 61 70 69 65 72 20 64 61 6E 73 20 6C 65 20
    63 68 61 72 67 65 75 72 20 64 65 20 64 6F 63 75
    6D 65 6E 74 73 2E 20 44 C3 A9 67 61 67 65 72 20
    6C 65 20 63 69 72 63 75 69 74 20 70 61 70 69 65
    72 2E 20 4C 61 20 6E 75 6D C3 A9 72 69 73 61 74
    69 6F 6E 20 65 73 74 20 64 C3 A9 73 61 63 74 69
    76 C3 A9 65 C2 A0 3B 20 74 6F 75 74 65 73 20 6C
    65 73 20 61 70 70 6C 69 63 61 74 69 6F 6E 73 20
    6E 27 75 74 69 6C 69 73 61 6E 74 20 70 61 73 20
    6C 65 20 73 63 61 6E 6E 65 72 20 73 6F 6E 74 20
    64 69 73 70 6F 6E 69 62 6C 65 73 2E

    The error message is in HEX and i should translate in ASCII ... but for now, my question is how to manage this situation?

    Thanks for your help, best regards, Théo

    Hi,

    Please share the full snmpwalk dump (as an attachment or share it on the cloud)

    snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 192.168.88.155 .1
    and
    snmpwalk -v 2c -c public -On 192.168.88.155 .1

    Regards,

      Hi Aigars ans thanks for the support.

      The discussion continue here (https://www.zabbix.com/forum/zabbix-...ge-a-snmp-tree) .

      In fact the question is how to manage a snmpwalk discovery tree from a root OID, and if some leaf are discovered, return this leafs as item value and finally error message

      Xerox error message management is like this. You've a root OID, and only in case of error a leaf with dedicated message is created.
      I don't know how to manage that.

      Thanks for your help, best regards, Théo
