    interval time for alerting in zabbix

    Hello Team,

    We have configured the zabbix and its working fine. But i have few question regarding alerting in zabbix.

    We are getting mail notification for problem and resolved issue.

    But i have few question please help me so we can use zabbix in more better way.

    Q1. Let say one problem started at 9 AM and we get the notification about problem then after how much time we will get the second notification?
    Q2. Let say one problem is started and get notified and its very critical service so we want to get second, third and more notification at after every 2 minutes only. How we can configure it.

    Please help me to clear my above questions.

    Thanks.

      It depends on how you configure. On your actions menu you have the option to specify steps (execution order) and step duration (time) so you could program it to send an e-mail, and after 2 minutes if the issue still persists to create a ticket.

      Q2. Let say one problem is started and get notified and its very critical service so we want to get second, third and more notification at after every 2 minutes only. How we can configure it.
      You create steps and specify step duration

      The image beneath shows the action screen:

        Hello Brunohi,

        Thank you for your response.

        Still i have few doubts i.e what are the steps and step duration here? Can you please elaborate little bit more both the points. That will be very helpful for me to understand escalation in zabbix.

        Default operation step duration is 1h, how we can change it to minutes? So we can reduce the alerting time period?

        Thanks.

          I don't use it much but I guess it's something like:
          - A trigger triggers an action, which will notify you;
          - An action is a set of operations that will be executed when fired;
          - Each operation can have one or more alert forms and is handled like a step, that is, each step is an operation to be executed.

          Look at the board beneath:

          In this case I have 3 operations, but 2 steps. What will happen if the trigger fires:
          - It will send an e-mail to "sarandi.eletrica" and send a message to bot "sarandi.eletrica" and "sarandi.forahorario" via "Sarandi - Audio Compressor" simultaneously (look at the start in).

          If the problem persists, in 3 minutes (look at the third event "start in") it will send a message to "sarandi.ivar" via "Sarandi - Audio Compressor".

          I guess that you can find more in these links:

            Hello Brunohi,

            Thanks for your response i was referring the same links and tried to understand the escalation. How you add the time in minutes in 3rd operation and how we can say that its in minutes?

            Thanks.

              You have to specify the time in seconds for the first step (step duration), it will automatically set the time for the second step to start.
