    flexible custom interval not working

Running zabbix 4.4, and I cannot get the flexible interval to work!

If i set the interval to 0, it will not even run at all, and if its set like below, if will run every 15 minutes which it should not. I would asume it should run every 10 minutes instead mon-fri form 09:30 - 16:00. But it runs 24/7 every 15 minutes.
    What am I missing here?

Pls read https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...stom_intervals Pay attension to the chapter "Custom intervals correlation"
    P.S.
I know that you have version 4.4 - this description just appeared just now, but it is also suitable for your version.

According to the table, it should poll every 10 minutes and NOT every 15 minutes ?. And it should still work, if I set the value to 0, where the item just go into an error/disable state if I do so.
Also the log shows this: " 1024:20201009:111216.240 active check "test" is not supported: Incorrect update interval."

        Just use 600 as interval.

Same issue, item because unsupported with these settings...
          Update interval:0
          Flexible-Interval 600.

And with below, it polls every 15 seconds, and not 600 as expected.
          Update interval:15
          Flexible-Interval 600.

Same problem here. I'm a little bit annoyed, either we are doing something wrong or this is a fundamental bug.

Its a bug. I've used this feature before (not sure about the specific version, unfortunately), and there it worked. Unless it the usage has changed. I cannot find any documentation on it though.

Which version are you running ?

Im running version 5.0.10. Its always "Incorrect update interval." if update interval is set to zero.

The section Custom intervals correlation in this doc doesn't work at all:

Ok, I found out why it isn't working for me: I use an active agent, and obviously custom intervals aren't working there.

Aaah.... Thats why. Same here. Come from another installation where we used "passive" agents.
Its also stated here, actually: https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...fig/items/item under "Custom intervals".

                      Thanks.

I found this old post because I was experiencing exactly this issue.
                        And this post helped me.

My goal was to measure an item between 05:00 and 23:59.
                        1. I googled zabbix custom intervals and arrived read https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...stom_intervals .
                          My version is 6.0.
                        2. I read the whole page and figured that this would help me reach my goal.
                        3. I configured a custom interval very similar to the 3d record in the table in chapter `Flexible intervals`.
                          Save was successful.
I did not get any warning message.
                          • Type `Flexible`
                          • Interval `0`
                          • Period `1-7,00:00-5:00`
                        4. I checked my items via `Latest data` and noticed a red exclamation icon and the hover text `Incorrect update interval` so was surprised.
                        5. I checked my item again.
I read the documentation page again.
                          I asked ChatGPT.
I google for the above. I found this post.
                        6. I read the comment `Ok, I found out why it isn't working for me: I use an active agent, and obviously custom intervals aren't working there.` from carstenJ` and am surprised.
                        7. I start reading the above documentation page again, see no mention about any agent type.
I check the item in my zabbix configuration. It is an active agent. Probably that's why it is not working. So why do I get the option to set a flexible interval if it is not supported for an active agent?
                        8. I revert my change so remove the flexible interval and start writing this post.
                        9. I do not have a solution yet but will read more documentation.

answer to 7. found on the page, where item creation is described... https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...fig/items/item From there link takes you to description of custom intervals... So not always you can read pages in random order unfortunately..
Custom intervals You can create custom rules for checking the item:
Flexible - create an exception to the Update interval (interval with different frequency)
Scheduling - create a custom polling schedule.
For detailed information see Custom intervals.
Time suffixes are supported in the Interval field, e.g., 30s, 1m, 2h, 1d.
                          User macros are supported.
A single macro has to fill the whole field. Multiple macros in a field or macros mixed with text are not supported.
Scheduling is supported since Zabbix 3.0.0.
Note: custom intervals for active checks are supported by Zabbix agent 2 only.
In docs for v5 that line is "Note: Not available for Zabbix agent active items." So only for passive items... yea.. a bit of confusion may appear about passive checks in later docs.... Some reading between the lines needed..

So your possible solution for active items and custom intervals is to use agent2.
