Zabbix Proxy and ServerActive

I'm trying to set up a proxy and according to the Zabbix 2.2 manual i need to set the ServerActive= in the Agent Configuration file. i went through the zabbix_agentd.conf file and i did not have the fields to enter the ServerActive. is that something i need to add and is it just:

ServerActive=IP Address of Proxy

Are you really trying to setup a proxy ? There is no ServerActive in the zabbix_proxy.conf , there is however a ServerActive in an Agent configuration.

I admin I havent worked in v2.2 in a while but ServerActive sounds like the Agent configuration, not the proxy conf.

your proxy.conf should have a Server= for your main/Zabbix UI server server process.

i agree that it is located in the agent config file not proxy.conf. i have the server and agent running on our server at the main location and i am trying to set up proxies for remote monitoring. the proxy isnt sending data to the server and i've completed almost all the steps but i think i need to add ServerActive= in the agent config file at the main location. does that make sense?!

Do you have your Proxy set up in Front-end > Administration > Proxies?

yes i do, i defined it by its hostname

ok so i added ServerActive=IP of server, IP of proxy in my agent config file and after restarting the zabbix agent the zabbix agent would not start and all my monitoring went down. i went back in and commented the ServerActive line out and the agent was able to start up again.
