I would like to have more flexibility with escalations.

It would be nice if you could define multiple independent operations for one Action. Because it's hard to build operations as desired when the steps and periods of the different operations affect each other...

What do you mean? Please could you give an example of a desired escalation plan?

I would like to have the following escalation plan:
- 5 minutes after an event has taken place an email should be send to an user
- After this an email should be send to the same user 5 times with a period of 3600 seconds

So far there is no problem
I defined one operation as followed:

Default Period:300 sec
Step: From 2 To 6
Period: 3600

- 24 hours after the event has taken place an sms should be send to another user

In making this second operation the problem begins.
I found the right setting for steps (245) only by trial-and-error and that was a little bit annoying.
Now I know that I have to consider the first operation in my calculations for the second operation. But when I think about having multiple operations in one action this will get very confusing.

I think it would open up ZABBIX a bit as people would create add-on modules etc.

I would like to version 1.8 there is the possibility of audio effect when running screen, if on the screen problem appears to be sound signaling.

1. It should be possible to show the calculated trigger values in notification messages with correct units (e.g. taken from 1st item).

something like:
{TRIGGER.VALUE.EVAL}

2. For logwatch facility it should be possible to get the number a regex is found in logfiles via item (e.g. with only changing the type from Logfile to Integer). This way you can have graphes and performance monitoring of services without use of external scripts.

3. For regex, PCRE should be introduced. At least I miss the ignore case switch for logwatch.

The development should focus more on the features that exists to make them mature than on eyecandy and only more features.

Introduction of an api will reduce feature wishlist and perhaps some core facilities will then go into plugins making zabbix better maintainable in developers view.

+1 for pdf reporting or even html email reports. Something easy for mgmt read. I'm making it work with my "exec custom dashboard" for now.

I'm new to Zabbix but not to monitoring software (SiteScope, RHCC, HP OpenView, Nagios all seem to have this to some extent) and this seems to be achilles heel.

The reporting would be nice, maybe a way to do an export to a comma delimited file so we could import it into a spreadsheet. PDF would be nice but I think the delimited file would be more versatile.

You might just be able to print to a PS file then use ps2pdf to convert it.

I want my Zabbix to tell me when my tea or coffee is ready and at the right temperature. Can we get a beverage module? And maybe later a food service module too. ;-)

Though in all seriousness let's also try and keep the Wiki page Rich created updated too. It makes it easier for the Zabbix team and everyone suggesting ideas to keep track of what's been suggested.

Comments in graphs

We have been running zabbix 1.4 for almost two years now, and we are VERY satisfied with it. Today I suddenly got an idea...

How about the possibility to add comments to graphs? For example, when we have some issue and the graphs look different than normal, it would be nice if we could somehow attach a comment to that specific graph and time. For example "interface failed, internet connection down, dos attack,..."

Then, when we later look at trends and wonder what happened, we see that comment above the graph in the picture, listed below, as a popup or whatever.

What do you all think about this idea? Suggestions on other ways to solve this is also most welcome.

Service level (delivery) Monitoring

I think if ZABBIX can be 'a little bit more clear' about monitoring services its will be more powerfull, i mean:

- we have some user 'services' (Web Sites, Mail Services, etc, etc);
- we need know if one this services are affected (in anyware / any part);
- we have a few things togheter to delivery this services (hosts, services, applications, etc);
- we need create a 'ZABBIX Map' whit a icon called (exemple) 'Online Store' and know if this service are down (in any application, SO service, host or network device);

j'ai télécharger ZABBIX 1T6 que je voudrai installer sur windows XP. je ne trouve pas me fichier éxécutable apres avoir dezzip la paxket. SVp aider moi à tester ce puissant outils de surveillence reseau.

EN plus ZABBIX peut'il surveiller jusqu'à 5000 hotes??

Zabbix ne s'installe pas sur WindowsXP. Il vous faut un serveur sous Unix/Linux.
Ce forum est anglophone, vous aurez plus d'aide à l'avenir en postant vos messages en anglais.

You can't install Zabbix on WindowsXP, You need a Unix/Linux server.
This is an english forum, you will get more help if you post in english.
