using an agent like a proxy for alarms?

In other tools (for example HP OpenView), the feature to use agents as "proxies" to receive alarms from other sources is very common.
The most common use is (in the OpenView world), to catch SNMP traps from HP SIM (a product for hardware monitoring).
Someone did the same in Zabbix? I'm thinking on a scenario where an agent can get traps from air conditioners, UPS, storage boxes and any SNMP device without install a Zabbix server to be used as a proxy to forward alarms to the main Zabbix server.

    proxies

    Hi IvanG,

I actually trying to test that kind of configuration.
I have the zabbix serve on my lan, and every customer are monitored with zabbix agent process only, because I didn't found a solution to translate UDP packets to TCP (throught a SSH tunnel) for SNMP.
Thus, I will test a monitoring of these customer via a zabbix_proxy.

    Good luck for your implementation
