For some testing purposes i'm testing zabbix, to implement or not to implement as monitoring system for our company.
How ever, i run the zabbix server on VM which is located 'outside', i use a vpn to connect to the corporate network, where a zabbix Proxy is installed, which collects test data from 4 switches (to start with). Server and proxy off course connected to each other.
The collection of all the data is perfect, the local cache on the proxy working great, but i have some calculated value's added to the templates of the switches.
These values are working nice when everything is working as it should and the connection to the proxy and server is up and running.
A few days ago the vpn stopped working, just got disconnected, the local proxy saved all data, and after restoring the vpn connection all the historic data was send nicely to the server.
How ever, for the calculated items this was not the case, there i have a blackout for a couple of hours in the data. These calculated items reside in a template, this template i only use for the switches, which are again only collected by the proxy.
The calculated items in my opinion then should be calculated by the proxy and not the server, since the data, or the item belongs to the host which is monitored by the proxy.
Is there anyone else who experienced this? or can this be a miss configuration? Is this default behavior? Or is this maybe an item for a next release?
