Making zabbix maps more user friendly

I have used zabbix as a network monitor for over a month and had made many changes to make it more user friendly. I hope some of this changes are added to zabbix.

    Map changes
    • Saving a edited map no longer redirects you to maps list. Instead you are redirected to the map you where editing. Useful when making many small changes on the same map.
    • Passive map elements on map. Allows you to navigate between maps back and forth without making circular references but keeping triggers.
    • Zoom on maps. Very useful on phones where you need more view area.
    • Map elements no longer shows popup menus if the only action is go to map.
    • Map links shows items from the host connected
    • Map links show real-time graphs on click
    • Map host show real-time graphs on popup menu.
    • Popup menus are more compact in phones, no one want to scroll in a popup menu.
    • Removed min-width from body, This way the edit button fits on the screen on phones.
    Future changes
    • Map link color changes according to the Mbps that are currently going.
    • Map link arrows showing direction of data
    • Map size resize automatically according to elements placed on it. No longer making those changes in map properties manually.
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Some of the improvements are very interesting. Where can I get the source codes?

I would encourage you to submit enhancement requests via the public bugtracker (support.zabbix.com) and/or pull requests to the source code tracker for the web interface.

I think many of these changes are beneficial, and I would love to see you work with Zabbix.com developers to get as much incorporated into the mainline code as makes sense.

I have a private repository with all those changes. The problem is that the repository has also changes specifically for the company I work with. If you like a feature specifically I can make a public repository only with that feature.
I also want to work with zabbix developers. But I can't work for free I got to eat and pay bills too, specially if I need to spend time documenting and polishing the code. I may submit one or two features just because I want to improve zabbix and get in contact with developers.

On the other hand I made more changes.
          • Host popup menu shows an option to go the map where the host can be found. Very useful to quickly navigate to see if neighborhood hosts has some problems too
          • Dasbboard graphs now show multiple columns on the hintbox.
          • Dashboard graphs hide item name if the name is the same as the graph name. Removes repetitive text from the hintbox
          • Dasbboard graphs highlight the item that is close to the mouse pointer.
          • Dashboard items are sorted alphabetically.

Contact the company to get a job. You don't need to advertise your work and ask for money on a free forum.

Sorry if I explained myself wrong. I never asked for money. Just that pushing code to support.zabbix.com needs effort like a job.The goal of this post is to discuss about features that make zabbix more user friendly and useful in a network monitoring environment.

I finally managed to set a color pallete from green to red depending on the usage of the link. The max throughput can be defined by another item or a static number .

Can you please specify if you used modules for this feature?

                Thanks!!
