Try changing the IP address of the host to 127.0.0.1 ?

About the error in front-end, try entering this on the command prompt while being root:

setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect=true

perfect ! had this before with lamp install and completely forget about it.

That fixed my front end -> back end issue.

I have had this issue twice and I have come across 3 possibilities that cause this issue:
1) selinux - must be disabled or rules must be added
2) active checks - configure the StartTrappers > 0 in config
3) In the initial installation process in the wui (web user interface), after you have entered the db details and tested. You cannot leave host as 'localhost'. It must have an IP, or possibly domain name which it can resolve.

This last reason stumped for 8 hours spread of over two days. By mistake I pressed the installation button under administration and just quickly ran through the setup to get it over with and glossed over the details.

Hope this helps someone else out there because I was tired reading about selinux and starttrappers...

Fixed on first try...

After reading through this, I found that as soon as I disabled SElinux then I started getting accurate reporting on the service.

For me

I fixed this by following the instructions on this site: http://www.sysads.co.uk/2013/11/zabb...running-alert/

SELinux was the culprit.

Run

tail -f /var/log/audit/audit.log |grep -i avc

and check for

type=AVC msg=audit(1383850274.731:32113): avc:  denied  { name_connect } for  pid=2060 comm=”httpd” dest=10051 scontext=unconfined_u:system_r:httpd_t:s0 tcontext=system_u:object_r:port_t:s0 tclass=tcp_socket

I have updated and recreated db/dbuser several time. tried with mysql root user credentials in zabbix.conf.php file. but same error. tried restarting zabbix-server

the log looks like the zabbix_server.log so the credentials should go in the zabbix_server.conf

I has the same problem of "Zabbix server is not running: the information displayed may not be current." message is on the dashboard and resolved it by:

Going to my Zabbix frontend, going to Configurations > Hosts, and selecting my 'Zabbix Server' and then just clicking 'Enable' under the 'Status' column.

whenever you see this pop-up you may have two options as listed below:

1)you could disable your SELinux by using this command # vi /usr/sbin/sestatus
# This file controls the state of SELinux on the system.
# SELINUX= can take one of these three values:
# enforcing - SELinux security policy is enforced.
# permissive - SELinux prints warnings instead of enforcing.
# disabled - No SELinux policy is loaded.
SELINUX=disabled
# SELINUXTYPE= can take one of these two values:
# targeted - Targeted processes are protected,
# mls - Multi Level Security protection.
SELINUXTYPE=targeted

and then run the reboot command to restart the system. After that, restart zabbix-server by using
# systemctl restart zabbix-server.service,
restart zabbix-agent:
# systemctl restart zabbix-agent.service
and restart apache:
# systemctl restart httpd.service
finally this pop-up won't come on your screen and the status of Zabbix server running change into yes.

2) If you don't want to disable your SElinux, you have another option, you should set firewall by using
# firewall-cmd --add-port=10051/tcp
# firewall-cmd --reload
then restart your service.

Zabbix Server is not Running properly

Hi Zabbix Experts..,

I have a problem in my zabbix server. which is the server is running but unexpectedly server has stop working. then automatically it retrieves the problem. That means i will start working the server, here my problem is why this is happening like this.

I want to know how to clear this problem permanently...

zabbix-server not running

Hi,

You may have some options in working with such problems;
First, you'd better check the last log for zabbix by running the tail command
tail -5 /var/log/zabbix/zabbix-server.log
you could see the last changes that may cause the problem in fact.

Sometimes, the problem caused by the amount of zabbix-server request for running as is out of bound in your server and one option is killing the all processes related to zabbix-server.
you have so many choices for killing the process, for example
ps aux | grep zabbix/
killall -9 <zabbix-sever pid>
then restart zabbix-server
systemctl restart zabbix-server
