    zabbix_get [19388]: Check access restrictions in Zabbix agent configuration

    I'm trying to setup a userparameter on a remote server (not on the same subnet) as my Zabbix server (3.2).

    My zabbix server is multihomed, one private and one public.

    When I run a zabbix_get command from my zabbix server to my remote server I get the following message:

    zabbix_get [19388]: Check access restrictions in Zabbix agent configuration

    If I run a zabbix_get command to a server on my private network it works. The problem is only happening on my remote servers,

    Thanks in advance

    AFAIK, zabbix_get will only work on the interface defined in the zabbix_server.conf in the Server variable.

    For example if I had 2 interfaces, one is 10.9.253.24 and the other is 174.24.22.10 and in my zabbix_server.conf I have set:

    Server=10.9.253.24

    Then the zabbix_get command will only be able to reach hosts that the 10.9.253.24 interface can communicate with.

    However, if I change the Server variable to:

    Server=10.9.253.24,174.24.22.10

    I should be able to communicate with hosts that are available on either interface.

      Thanks for replying Vesper1978

      Where is the Server variable in my zabbix_server.conf file?

      I've searched the whole file and I can't find a 'Server=' parameter.

      I completely agree that since the server is multihomed you need to specify the IP somewhere but I couldn't see where?

      Also do you know if there is a hostname setting in the zabbix_server.conf file?

      Thanks in advance,

      James

        zabbix_get doesn't care about anything in the server configuration file. The routing decision should become clear when running:

        Code:
        ip route get <target_address>

              Well, did you try what I suggested? If so, what was the result and how does it relate to your agent configuration?

                  Yes, that's what I meant because that was obviously the answer to the question that you seem to have.

                  Please explain what you are trying to do and what your problem is!
