Another way to monitor Oracle

zabbix check_ora 1.2 released

n this release is included a new item and graph that is used to monitor archivelog production on a database.

In particular i’m going to get an average value that is calculate on a slice of 10 minutes.

So you can monitor your archivelog production, this is really useful if you have an Oracle DataGuard installation or simply to monitor the workload of transaction that are acting on youd database.

Normally this value is really low, on mine database is something like 500 MB/hour but if an hig load is coming this value grown until 16-20GB/hour and is becoming dangerous.

The trigger associated send a mail if this value is mode than 100MB/minute.

Monitoring Multiple Oracle Instances

Hi for every one sorry for my pour english,

I'm new working with Zabbix, I stay monitored two oracle server, with O.S. Linux Red Hat 4 and Oracle 9i Enterprise, but each one server have three Oracle Instances, I don't know how monitoring this instances with this method.

As I understand it should create several new servers that have the names of each instance, I'm right?

I appreciate any help I can offer, regards.

it's easy to install , simply follow the instruction inside readme.txt or in this thread or on http://rootzone.wordpress.com/2009/1...og-in-generak/.
Btw you need add for each instance an host, and apply to this host the "template oracle", and obviously your redhat server should be able to connect to each instance with a working sqlplus etc..

I'm sorry but i didn't have yet zabbix 1.8.1 probably is a trouble with this release, with 1.6.x the import of template don't cause any trouble, i'm sorry for the inconvenience but i can't try with your release now.

this trigger EXPDP, EXPDP_HISTORY are trigger that i use to monitor mine export on database.
I'm going to explain: i have another plugin, that when i have a few more of free time i'll publish, and this plugin simply keep monitored mine daily export datapump on oracle and History export. History export are export that runs on last day of each month. I use zabbix to keep monitored also rman/tsm backup whit another script, i'm sorry that this trigger and item are on template, are completely useless without the other plugin.

I’ve found a bug inside a check_ora_sendtrap.sh on line 58:

in particular there was an escape character and the line appear so:

One other way: send Oracle values from a Java code

As far as I know Oracle can run Java classes and JDBC is very handy with Oracle. To turn a java class into a Zabbix agent a Jabbix Java library can be used. See "Jabbix" thread on this cookbook topic for more information.

Orabbix 0.5 released

Orabbix 0.5 released
I've released a new version of Orabbix.
actual improvements are:
1) Added retry on ZabbixSend items and values (max 10 times) , increased socket timeout to 30 sec.
2) Now exception are managed better and is less verbose i've revisited all loglevel to clean the software
Actually this daemon keep monitored 43 Oracle instances on mine production environment, with success
